We have had two wonderful Bread and Torah weekends in New
Zealand. Our first week we were by our friend and scribe, Linda Kaye, in the North Hokianga region in the far north,
in the small village of Kohukohu, where we celebrated Shabbat and Tu B’Shevat,
Jonathan did a challah baking workshop Friday afternoon, and Linda did a parchment making and sacred arts workshop for local, primarily non-Jewish artists on Saturday evening and Sunday.

Our second Shabbat this past weekend we were in residence at Temple Sinai (yes!), Wellington’s progressive congregation. Jonathan led challah baking on Friday afternoon, and we conducted services on Shabbat evening and morning.
On Sunday Jonathan taught a babka and sweet dough baking workshop, and Linda did a morning session on how a Torah scroll is made, and an afternoon Hebrew calligraphy workshop.
We are being hosted in Wellington by Temple Sinai community leader and mashpia JoEllen Duckor, whose son Avi gave us a fabulous hike and bike tour of the Eastbourne area of Wellington yesterday.
